And while it may appear that her career is a perfect fit for her, it did not start out that way. Lorena Garcia is a great example of a woman with a passion, who did not immediately turn that passion into a career choice. She remembers cooking a tamale-and-scrambled-egg breakfast for her mom, Venezuelan politician Blanca Ibáñez, and brother at the tender age of 6. “I remember always cooking for my friends,” Lorena said, “and I always found an excuse. We’d have a group study or we would have a get-together or a birthday; I was always the one cooking, making whatever I found in the pantry.”
