Some have had to take multiple low paying jobs to make ends meet; others haven?t been able to find work at all. And the situation is particularly bad for older women. Late last year, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis found that long-term unemployment has increased disproportionately for women over 50, and then last month, The New York Times reported that in 2013, 48.8% of unemployed women aged 55-64 had been out of work for more than six months. In the 35-44 age bracket, that figure was only 19%.
