Why Netflix's And Microsoft's New Parental Leave Policies Fall Short Of What Parents Need Netflix, a pioneer in paid time off policies, yesterday announced in a blog post that new parents, both moms and dads, including adoptive parents, can take as much paid leave as they like for up to a year after the birth or adoption of a child. The Los Gatos-based streaming giant became the first company in the U.S. to formally institute such a generous paid leave policy, says Sarah Jane Glynn, director of women’s economic policy at the Center for American Progress, a liberal-leaning Washington, D.C. think tank where she has been tracking leave policies for the past four years.
