Why You Should Buy NeuroTribes For Everyone On Your Christmas List There is something no doubt ironic about recommending as a Christmas gift a book written by a Jewish man, but given the holiday spirit, it was the best way I could think to convey what I think about Steve Silberman’s book NeuroTribes, a tome that beautifully, compassionately and brutally traces the history of autism from centuries past into the present and possible future. That opinion is: everyone needs to read this book. Everyone. So buy it for Christmas or Kwanzaa or Solstice or next year’s Hanukah or Diwali or next summer’s Eid-ul-Fitr or your friend’s birthday or your neighbor’s anniversary — whatever it takes — because this book transcends all cultures and faiths as essential reading to understand a vital part of the human condition. So my goal here is transparent: in sharing what Silberman told me in an interview about his book, I hope to make readers as eager to read NeuroTribes as I am eager to praise it.
