First Lady Spearheads Women's Summit At The White House The First Lady, Michelle Obama, in partnership with the White House Council On Women & Girls, together with the Department of State, the Department of Labor, the Aspen Institute and Civic Nation, is convening the first United State of Women Summit.The first lady announced the summit with a post on Medium this morning, and a promotional video featuring: Oprah Winfrey, Indra Nooyi, Meryl Streep, Tina Fey, Kerry Washington, Cecile Richards, Connie Britton, Laverne Cox, Jessica Williams, Valerie Jarrett, Tory Burch and other female entertainers, leaders and entrepreneurs promoting the White House summit. In addition to participating in the video, many of these women have made individual pledges announcing what they will do to help advance gender equality. They ask others to follow suit, and use the hashtag #stateofwomen if they post their pledge on social media.
