Career Changer Deesha Dyer Becomes White House Social Secretary Michelle Obama’s office this afternoon announced the promotion of Deesha Dyer, 37, a Philadelphia native who grew up in a rough neighborhood and dropped out of college to become a community advocate and freelance hip hop journalist, to social secretary, a post previously held by a glamorous confidante and friend of the Obamas, Desirée Rogers. Most recently the job was held by Jeremy Bernard, the first openly gay man in the role, who announced he was leaving in early April.
