Do Our Kids Have the Money Smarts to Live in the Real World? In the 1980's, as President of The First Women’s Bank, I saw women be disempowered by money. Turns out that money smarts are something you learn as a child. This inspired me to pioneer the topic of "kids and money" in the United States. Today, financial illiteracy is still an epidemic in the US; however, the solution to combat this problem is an easy one. Teach our children good money habits when they're young, so that they have the right tools in the future.
