Nintendo's Wii Sports Club Is Family Fun For Lazy Summer Days

Nintendo's Wii Sports Club Is Family Fun For Lazy Summer Days If feels strange to play virtual sports in the middle of the summer. But my kids and I have been playing Wii Sports Club since the five-sport physical retail version was released last week. Wii Sports Club has been available for download for a while, but we did not actually try it until now. For some reason, I was turned off by the online pricing structure. It just didn’t sit right with me. I’m not sure why. Now that there’s a retail version for the Wii U, however, I wanted to play. To be honest, I felt a little guilty. Was this irresponsible parenting? Shouldn’t my kids should be running around outside, slathered with sunscreen? That is precisely what they do most of the day while they are at camp. At the end of the day, however, they seem to approach home as an air conditioned sanctuary. They turn on the Wii U and play golf, tennis, bowling, boxing, baseball. I guess it is okay. The old mythology that “video games will rot the brain” no longer reigns. Plus, we’re all playing together. The original Wii Sports is one of the best selling video games of all time. In all of its iterations, the franchise has sold more than 115 Million games. In 2006, when it was first released and we all experienced the Wii Remote for the first time, it changed the way we think about the home video game console. This new version adds online multiplayer mode and a few of the games use the touch screen gamepad in creative ways.
